I’m not going to tell you a copy&paste biography about Scott Schuman, since you can find it here or here.
I would like instead to share my opinion about the great good work he does just with his camera and his good taste, rather than the good taste from people he takes pictures of.
Apart from the experience he owns about the whole fashion industry, what he basically offers now is a blog-photo-story with often just few lines to describe the scene or even without any text, so actually what he selects is able to talk on its own.
First of all, he’s a very good photographer. All the pictures are taken outdoors and he is so capable of catching the right light (is it me or he always gets the best sunny days??), to zoom on the most interesting details that any image comes always as an interesting result. These scenes are spontaneous, god, people is finally smiling (so you can’t say that the most glamorous look is the angry one) and most of all is normal people, and even when he shoots a model off the runway, she looks like the most common girl.

Most of the photos show:
- People from the fashion system on fashion related sets, and this is actually the most predictable - and easy - outcome he can give us;
- People who dessssperately love and follow fashion, so dress themselves properly, maybe hoping Scott is around to get portrayed on his blog;
- People not involved in the business but with very good and enviable taste, maybe with classic articles but anyway well matched - often old people wearing that sort of beautiful clothes they have in the closet from a lifetime, something we won’t ever find in shops today, apart from vintage ones;
- People having nothing to do with all this glamorous stuff, maybe just doing their job or walking their dogs, that happen to wear the right scarf or smoke a particular pipe.
The two last are my favourite, and I bet Scott’s, too.

His book is out from a while and is nothing else but the printed blog. Anyway it is a good thing to have, to keep in your house or bring with you during a journey: there are some captions or stories about the persons more frequent in his pictures and anyway it is a quiet chance to look at them more deeply, differently from the times you quickly check the blog between a thing and the other.
Having a look on his work makes you want to dress better. Or even more, it makes you comfortable with yourself, in your clothes, in those things you’ve bought but you are not enough brave to wear in everyday life.
And apart from that, he is also quite good looking.
